Arrangements have been concluded by some top members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State to decamp to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
A privy to a high profile meeting of the PDP chieftains told our correspondent that former federal and state legislators and commissioners as well as serving local government chairmen have concluded plans to move to the APC.
Further findings showed that Hon. Bashir Jumbo, a four-time member of the House of Representatives is leading the pack of the defectors.
Alhaji Lawal Danzomo, a former commissioner during former Governor Saminu Turaki’s administration and Alhaji Hassan Malam-Madori who was a special adviser to former Governor Sule Lamido are also leaving the PDP.
Others are Alhaji Daguro Muhammad Hadeijia, Bala Safiyanu, Saleh Taki, Yahaya Bigman and at least 15 serving local government chairmen and their supporters, it was learnt.
It was gathered that former Governor Sule Lamido’s deputy, Alhaji Ahmed Mahmud Gumel, who decamped to the APC before the last governorship election was saddled with the responsibility of wooing the PDP members.
The state PDP chairman, Alhaji Mahmuda Kuit, said that he was not aware of the move.
But, Lamido’s close aide and his former special adviser on youth, Comrade Danjani Umar, confirmed that most of the people mentioned are set to decamp to the APC.
“Lamido told them that those who can’t endure four years of opposition are free to join the party in power but also warned them that there will be consequences in the future,” he said
