Xi Jinping Holds Talks with Sultan of Brunei

President Xi Jinping  has held talks with Sultan of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, who is in China for a state visit, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the traditional friendship between China and Brunei has a time-honored history.

He stated that since the establishment of diplomatic relations more than 30 years ago, the two countries have continuously deepened political mutual trust, actively synergized development strategies, and achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation in various fields.

Xi Jinping stressed that China is ready to join hands with Brunei on the path of national development and bring more benefits to the two peoples.

Waddaulah extended New Year wishes for the Year of the Snake to President Xi Jinping and the Chinese people.

He said that under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, China has maintained sustained rapid economic growth and lifted hundreds of millions of people out of poverty, which is a remarkable achievement.

The two sides issued the joint statement on Advancing the Strategic Cooperative Partnership towards a China-Brunei Community with a Shared Future.

After the talks, the two heads of state jointly witnessed the signing of a number of cooperation documents in judicial, Belt and Road cooperation, economy and trade, media and other fields.
