Taraba ex-military governor, Dickson dies

A former military administrator of Taraba state Col. Yohana Mamman Dickson (rtd) is dead.

He died at the Barau Dikko General hospital in Kaduna on Tuesday after a brief illness, his family announced on Thursday.

Aged 65 years, late Col. Yohanna will be buried at his home town Unguwan Baki, Kanikon, Kafanchan, Jema’a local government area of Kaduna State next week Friday

He was born on 28th December, 1950 into the family of Mamman Dickson, and was enrolled into junior ECWA primary school in 1958 and in 1962 before proceeding to senior ECWA primary school.

In 1965, he attended St. Edna’s Teacher College, Zaria and enrolled into the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) on 16th April, 1970, for the 8th Regular Course.

Late Dickson was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant on 9th September, 1972..

.He attended many military courses within and outside the country and held many military service appointments

He was appointed the military administrator of Taraba State from December 1993 to August 1996  by Late General Sanni Abacha..

He voluntarily retired from the Nigerian Army after 27 years of service on 31st January, 1997.

After his retirement from the military, he join politics as a member of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and contested the Southern Kaduna Senatorial seat on four occasions but failed.
