Sunshine Stars are expected to make efforts to strengthen the team with some of the country’s top league players, including defensive midfielder Dare Ojo and goalkeeper Kazeem Yekeen, transfer experts in Akure have informed News24.
The Owena Waves have been linked with the players for some time, as new head coach Samson Unuanel is believed to be considering bolstering his squad with the best talents in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Although Yekeen’s name will be included in the Harmony Boys’ campaign in the Nigeria National League, Sunshine Stars are believed to be interested in signing the former Bayelsa United shot-stopper.
The goalkeeper performed well for the team despite the unfortunate relegation to the NNL.
Yekeen isn’t the only one that suits the playing pattern of Sunshine Stars as the Akure-based team will try to convince Dare Ojo to return to a familiar terrain having defended the colours of Rising Stars in the past.
Ojo netted eight goals in the 2014/15 NPFL season, his best ever individual performance since he turned professional.
According to sources close to Sunshine Stars, although coach Unuanel has not spoken formally to the players on his wish list, his interest in them is known to the club’s management.
