The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universitids (SSANU) and Non Academic Staff Union (NASU), University of Lagos (UNILAG) chapter have shut down the institution’s gates to visitors.
Coming a week after students of the university shut the gate following the electrocution of a female student of the university at the frontage of her hostel.
The two unions are protesting over mounting unpaid earned allowances of its members by the management of the first generation university.
Addressing the aggrieved members of the union after the main gate leading to the institution was locked, SSANU Chairman, Comrade Adetomiwa Adekola, listed their demands to include refund of unlawful and illegal deductions of contributory pension from members of staff salaries since July 2004, immediate stoppage of further deduction of contributory pension from salaries of staff as the
contributory has been deducted from source before release of subversion for personnel cost by the federal government, among others
