One of the victims, Rotimi Amaechi, has left the shores of Nigeria in anger for United Kingdom because of what one of his close allies tagged ” utter shock with Buhari’s last night’s appointments”

Amaechi was perceived as the cash cow and the arrowhead of the assault against former president, and kinsmen, Goodluck Jonathan.
One of the key factor that nailed Amaechi was a damning preliminary report of his stewardship forwarded to Buhari by Governor Nyesom Wike.
Wike had constituted a seven man Judicial Commission of Inquiry headed by Justice George Omereji to investigate alleged sale of some state assets as well as the projects for which funds were allegedly released but not executed .
Former deputy Governor, Ted Ikuru alleged that his former boss allegedly spent N812 million to furnish his private residence, adding that the former government also spent N4.96 billion on the proposed Justice Adolphus Karibi Whyte Hospital with no structures on the ground.
Wike had among others, asked the Commission of Inquiry to investigate the sale of Omoku 150 MW Gas Turbine , Adam 360 MW Gas Turbine, Trans-Amadi 136 MW Gas Turbine as well as the Eleme 75 MW Gas Turbine. –
He also said “I am confident that President Buhari will support my administration in the quest to tackle the massive corruption that characterized the Amaechi administration”
It was gathered that even though Amaechi was being considered, forces within both parties averse to his appointments had lobbied some folks around Buhari to insist the President gets a preliminary report on the tenure of Amaechi.
Said the source ” Wike we all know had told the world everything Amaechi did would be checked out, but there were other forces who ensured Buhari took a look at the prelim report sent by Wike on the alleged large scale fraud by his administration. The problem Buhari had was, he was careful about Amaechi because he did not want his SGF to be indicted for large scale fraud, because some of the evidence against Amaechi were damning.”
The appointments continue to elicit outrage against the backdrop of the lopsidedness of the picks.
Even though those with him insist Buhari has made sterling appointments, with consideration to competence and experience, this group has not been able to defend the appoint of a retired army colonel, Hameed Ali and Comptroller General of Customs.
Amaechi was head of the fund raising committee for his party, helped raised tons of cash, and almost emptied his state treasury for the emergence of Buhari.
First, the speculation was Amaechi could be picked to be the Vice Presidential candidate, then Yemi Osinbajo came. Next, he was promised either Secretary to Government or Chief of Staff.
Amaechi was two weeks ago screened by the Department of Security Services (DSS) for the position of SGF.
Shortly after the screening, a dinner was organized in his honor in port Harcourt.
It was gathered that despite pleas from his men and some close to Buhari that he would be given a ministerial appointment, Amaechi insisted he would not accept anything less than SGF after being governor twice.
Said the source ” It was a big shock to him. This is a man who almost laid down his life, fought Jonathan his kinsmen to the end, spent billions of his own money and state money to ensure Buhari emerged, and is treated this way? Who is the new SGF, where was he when we were working hard for Buhari”
According to another close ally ” He has left Nigeria, he was so upset, i think to just cool off and think of what to do next because in Rivers Wike has shut him out, and there is nothing much in Abuja”
Well, it is a pity that it happened this way. But whomsoever the cap fits as a matter of merit let him wear it. Gov Amaechi should be patient and also think Nigeria first before self. That president Mohammed Buhari made the announcement of his kitchen cabinet to Nigerians on Thursday is no longer news. To state also that the appointments acutely veered off the range of federal character principle and questions the integrity of our claimed federalism is simply bringing to the fore, an age long dispute. While the rest of the citizens gaze at the unfolding drama of the time with bathd breath, Rotimi Amechi stands apart in utter noncomposmentis of the conundrum. The ex governor may have gone the whole hug in ensuring that Buhari becomes the President but not much of his expectations are anything within reach as the President unleashes his game plans. It may be too late in the night now to chase a black goat but another dawn will beckon and the experiences of the moment will shape his decisions in a long time to come.
Amechi should take easy he know mr President will not accept any act of corruption. I also congratulate the new SGF may Allah lead them all to accomplish this goal. sai BABA sai MR PRESIDENT

If the allegation levelled against Amechi is right, then amechi should refund the money and try to do good and re-adjust. For mr president,he should be sincere and ensure that common man feel his impact(food,housing,health,education and security)

It would be unwise for President Buhari to appoint anyone to a very high position when that person is under investigation for massive corruption.
Governor Nyesom Wike’s investigation into ex-governor Amechi’s administration revealed gross mismanagement of public funds. Governor Rotimi Amechi needs to clear his name by explaining what happened during his administration. Until the allegations are resolved, no one should consider him for any post. Being rejected for appointment is the least of his problems. He may face a very difficult time ahead if those allegations are not resolved in his favor.
This is a new era. Politicians need to be held accountable for their actions while in office especially when they mismanage public funds.
Comment– To all that cares to hear, Amaechi did not joined APC because of appointment, rather he join the progressive to put an end to maladmnisration of PDP. Was it Amaechi that told this writer that he was angry with Mr President appointments? Where was the writer when Amaechi said his going abroad to think of what next?
I knew that many journerlist were PDP apologists and they are yet to come of shock of defeat of the last general elections in Nigeria. Amaechi remains a force to be recorn with in APC appointment or no appointment.

This is the beginning of nemesis for Amaechi and his cohorts in the Niger Delta. He hasn’t started crying yet, he will cry and beg for mercy. Did he think he’d hide his dirty deals forever? it is laughable that Amaechi believes that he can be in the cabinet of the saints which he canvassed with all his strength in this world. A pig cannot be housed together with a sheep for God’s sake. Meanwhile he should go and answer the mounting questions before the Omeriji panel before it is too late for him.
Amaechi should be compelled to refund all the stollen funds or be arrested and let his bail sum be equal to the stolen funds
