Concerned by the dwindling fortune of the nation’s industrial sector, the House of Representatives has rolled out a blueprint that would help revive the sector, including revisiting the controversial export Expansion Grant Programme (EEG).

Speaking while inspecting one of the ternary that benefitted from the programme, Kano Unique Leather Ternary, a member of the House of Representatives representing Kano municipality, Dr Nuhu Abubakar Damburam, said now that peace is gradually returning to the northern part of the country, something should be done to help industries in the region grow. Damburam agreed that the EEG programme was abused by some industries, who rather than use it to expand their businesses, the fact remains that some managed their funds to improve production in their factories.
