Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi on Wednesday celebrated the New Year with internally displaced people in their camp in Abuja.
IDP camp is home to over 5,000 internally displaced persons.
He also made a donation of N2m for their upkeep before leaving the camp.
There were tears of joy from IDPs as they hugged him and did not want to let go.
Obi had in his New Year message to Nigerians urged them to remain steadfast.
He said: “Dear beloved Nigerians, I welcome you into the New Year 2025 with a message of hope and encouragement knowing what we all are going through in this blessed land.
“As I bring you my New Year message and state of the nation later, I urge us all to remain steadfast in our creator who will give us a new Nigeria that is Possible. “
