Charles Anyanwu who is a stalwart of All Progressives Congress (APC) is a former lawmaker in Rivers Assembly and former Caretaker Committee Chairman of Etche local Government area of the state and a loyal supporter of former supporter of former Governor Chibuike Amaechi.

Chief Emmanuel Anyanwu fierce political battle with Charles has led to the arrest of his son and subsequent detention over allegation bordering on illegal possession of firearms and others.

Since the release of Charles Anyanwu from detention the battle between father and son was drawn with both father and son at each other’s jugular.

By extension, it became a battle between ardent supporters of former Governor Chibuike Amaechi and Governor Nyesom Wike.

Chief Anyanwu alleged that his home was invaded by soldiers based on a petition filed against him by his son alleging that he was a gunrunner.

Angered by the turn of events after he was released, Chief Anyanwu said, “I want to say or reemphasize what I said at Ulakwo that he (Charles) has been disowned for his behaviour, not only for sending soldiers to my house but for destroying the town hall of Ulakwo community.

“He has now lost his rights and privileges in Anyanwu’s dynasty. He remains disowned today. Anybody who deals with him is on his own. He is no longer my son because he doesn’t possess character and image of Anyanwu dynasty. At this my age there is nothing that can associate me with arms”.

It would be recalled that Governor Nyesom Wike in a live radio programme in penultimate Saturday berated the alleged action of Charles Anyanwu for writing a petition to the army alleging that his father was a gunrunner leading to search of his father’s house.

At time of the report Charles Anyanwu has not reacted to his father’s action.
