Operation Save Rauf Aregbesola Project, OSRAP, may have taken a new dimension and the federal and state All Progressives Congress, APC, lawmakers have planned a crucial meeting for Monday to strategise on how to prevent Governor Rauf Aregbesola from being consumed by the lingering crises in the state.
The Governor, who has come under fire from the staff of the state civil service over months of salary arrears and may also face the scourge of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related offences Commission, ICPC, over sundry allegations of misconduct, has been the centre of several controversies.
The Osun lawmakers under the aegis of Osun Legislators’ Forum are to converge on Osogbo on Monday to chart the way forward for the state, with special focus on rescuing the governor from the obvious free-fall that he may be eventually be his fate.
Tagged stakeholders’ conference, State and National Assemblies’ members are expected to participate in the one-day summit, according to a member of the House of Representatives Ayo Omidiran (Irewole/Ayedade/Isokan), who told reporters on Saturday in Osogbo that the conference has become necesary platform for intervention in the brewing political crisis in the state.
The former board member of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, disclosed that all APC federal and state lawmakers would converge in Osogbo on Monday to listen all key stakeholders in the brewing conflicts.
She said the principal character in the crisis, Governor Aregbesola as well as his accusers and other political elements that have been in the forefront to bring him down will have opportunity to present their grievances for possibly resolution.
The lawmaker said the conference, which would be an interactive session, would equally be used as a necessary platform to exchange ideas between the people and those in authority.
“The conference will present opportunity for all stakeholders to hear from the horse’s mouth. The governor (Mr. Rauf Aregbesola) will explain in clear terms and language during his submission at the conference what happened and also lay all his cards on the table.”
Omidiran said the outcome of the conference would be presented to the state government for necessary action. Other stakeholders expected to attend include traditional rulers, community leaders, labour and religious leaders, she said.
