Ondo PDP faults INEC on Ilaje election

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State yesterday faulted the acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mrs Amina Zakari, claim that the Ilaje constituency 1 and 11 in the state was not acceptable to the commission.

The Publicity Secretary of the party, Prince Banji Okunomo, said the electoral body should have been neutral on the issue since the matter was before a court of competent jurisdiction for adjudication.

The representative of the Acting Chairman of INEC, Prof Lai Olorode, had said although winners have emerged in the election held in April 11 for the Ilaje constituency 1 and 11 of the state, it would however not issue certificate of return to the winners until the case was finally disposed of in the law court. Olorode said the commission was not satisfied with the April 11, 2015 House of Assembly election in the two Ilaje constituencies, admitting that the election lacked credibility.
