Oliseh’s choice for Footballer of the Year revealed

Senior men’s national team coach, Sunday Oliseh, believes Ghana star, Andre Ayew, was the best African footballer in the just-ended year.

This is according to the voting sheet the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has made available following the conclusion of the Glo/CAF 2015 Gala Dinner.

Oliseh rates the Ghanaian striker ahead of eventual winner, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon), Sadio Mane (Senegal), Yaya Toure (Ivory Coast) and Mohammed Salah (Egypt), in that order.

National team coaches from the CAF affiliates voted for the coveted Footballer of the Year.

Aubameyang emerged the winner with 143 points, seven ahead of Toure.

Olisheh’s choice garnered 112 points.

Meanwhile, Oliseh was in agreement with most coaches Tanzanian striker Mbwana Aly Samatta was the best player plying their trade in the African continent.

The striker was the overwhelming favourite with 127 points. Democratic Republic of Congo goalkeeper, Robert Kidiaba, was second with 88 points.

Baghdâd Bounedjah was third with 63 points.

The awards were held in Abuja on Thursday evening
