Okorocha pays salary arrears

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, on Thursday paid the state’s workers the one month salary owed them.

Okorocha, who announced the immediate release of the salaries during a meeting with the civil servants and parastatals at the Imo Investment Foundation, also directed that the workers in the parastatals should be paid the six months’ salaries owed them.

Okorocha, however, warned against barricade of roads and brandishing of dangerous objects by the workers during protests.

He said, “A situation whereby workers barricade the roads during protests will no longer be tolerated; it is an act of indiscipline. You are not allowed to carry stones, I appeal to you to do your protest peacefully.”
