Kunle Afolayan’s latest movie, ‘October 1’ has been selected for movie screening at the World Panorama session of the 2015 Woodpecker Film Festival (WFF) in India.

According to reports from E-rave, ‘October 1’ as well as other Nigerian movies such as the screen adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie’s award-winning novel, ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’, Obi Emenloye’s ‘Thy Will be Done’, Emem Isong’s ‘Champagne’, ‘Silent Tears’, ‘Knocking on Heaven’s Door’, ‘Bedlam’, ‘Brothers’, and ‘Doll House’ will be shown at the Indian festival which commences on September 17, in New Dehli.
Narender Yadav, the founding director of the festival, who made the announcement and as reported by E-rave stated that this year’s inclusion of some Nigerian movie in the Indian film festival was first of its kind, stating that it was an attempt to foster camaraderie between the two giant movie industries.
“It’s for the first time that a serious attempt is being made to bring Nigerian cinema to the Indian audience. I am sure this is going to be an enriching experience for cinema lovers in India. At the same time, these films will also attract a large number of Nigerian youths, who are in New Delhi, either for their higher studies or for work.
Overall, it’s going to be an exciting feature of our festival this year,” he said.
