IGP redeploys 19 AIGs, 49 CPs, moves Mbu to Police College, Jos

The inspector general of police, IGP Solomon Arase, has ordered the immediate redeployment of 19 assistant inspectors general of police, AIGs and commissioners of police CPs to various formations and commands across the country.

Deputy Force public relations officer, PRO, Abayomi Shogunle made this known yesterday in a statement in which he said the deployment followed vacancies created in recent retirement and promotion of senior officer.

“Following the vacancies created from the recent retirement and promotions of senior police officers, the Inspector-General of Police. IGP Solomon Arase, has approved the postings of senior police officers,” Shogunle said.

Prominent among the AIGs redeployed is AIG Joseph Mbu formerly in charge of Zone 2 Lagos. Mbu gained notoriety as commissioner of police in Rivers state when he pitched himself against the then state governor Rotimi Amaechi who accused him of doing the bidding of the then first lady Patience Jonathan.

Mbu who was moved to FCT command before he was elevated to AIG and moved to take charge of zone 2 Lagos, has been redeployed to become commandant of the Police Staff College in Jos, Plateau state.

A breakdown of the redeployment shows AIG Tambari Mohammed moved to AIG Zone 1 Kano, AIG Bala Hassan, AIG Zone 2 Lagos
AIG Mohammed Abubakar, AIG Zone 3 Yola, AIG Yahaya Ardo,
AIG Zone 4 Makurdi, AIG Musa Daura, AIG Zone 5 Benin and
AIG Adisa  Bolanta, 1AIG ZONE 6 Calabar.

AIG Ballah Nasarawa becomes AIG Zone 7 Abuja, AIG Lawal  Tanko, AIG Zone 8 Lokoja, AIG Usman Gwary, AIG Zone 9 Umuahia, AIG Mohammed Gana, AIG Zone 10 Sokoto, AIG Helen  Kalafite Adeyemi, AIG Zone 11 Osogbo, AIG Johnson Ogunsakin,
AIG Zone 12 Bauchi, AIG Patrick Dokumor, Force Secretary, FHQ, Abuja and AIG Adenrele Shinaba, Commandant Nigeria Police Academy, Kano.

Others are, AIG Edgar Nanakumo, AIG Works, FHQ Abuja, AIG Yerima Irimiya, AIG Maritime Police, AIG Olufemi Adenaike AIG Training and Development, FHQ Abuja and AIG James Caulcrick, 2iC Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department, FCIID, Abuja.

Shogunle who said the IGP charged the officers to ensure that their policing activities are in conformity with the strategic policing plans of the current leadership of the Force, also said some commissioners of police were also deployed to state commands and administrative position at the force headquarters.
