Former military presidents, Gen Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and former Head of State, Gen Abdulsalami Abubakar have stated that the fight against Boko needs the support of all Nigerians
While IBB stated that his prayers was to see to the end of the insurgency, Abdulsalami in his Sallah message yesterday in Minna, decried the killings, saying that it will not serve any purpose to kill fellow humans.
The two former Nigerian leaders posited that President Muhammadu Buhari needed the support of all Nigerians to end what they described as senseless killings of fellow citizens.
IBB said that the best option is for all Nigerians to support the president, adding that, “My prayer is an end to this senseless killings by Boko Haram soonest. I call on Nigerians to rally support for this government in whatever effort it is making towards ending insurgency and making our economy buoyant.”
In an interview yesterday, Gen Abdulsalami also urged all Nigerians to continue to pray for peace saying that the escalating activities of the insurgents is worrisome.
He stated that the activities of the insurgents can not serve any purpose for them because nothing could be achieved in the atmosphere of violence and killing of innocent citizens.
“We pray that God guides the insurgents to end the senseless killings. It does not make sense. Nothing can be achieved through violence. In the name of whatever they worship, they should respect people’s lives,” Abdulsalami stated.
