Two Lagos security guards, who allegedly gang-raped a teenage girl, are on temporary reprieve of N1 million bail on the orders of an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The accused — Gabriel Vincent, 26, and Anthony Oguche, 25 — who reside at Akowonjo near Egbeda, a Lagos suburb, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, abduction and rape.
The Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi, who granted them a bail of N500,000 each, also directed the men to produce two responsible sureties in like sum.
She ordered that their files should be duplicated and sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Both denied the charges.
But the prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Imhonwa, insisted that the security guards committed the offences on Aug. 27 at 5.00 p.m. at their office at Santos Ventures, Akowonjo Roundabout.
He said the pair lured the 15-year-old girl into their room at the security post and held her hostage for several hours.
“They held her in their room against her will, manhandled her and then raped her that evening.”
The offences contravened Sections 137,141, and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 137 provides imprisonment for life, while Sections 141and 409 prescribe two years for abduction and conspiracy respectively.
The magistrate adjourned further hearing in the case to Oct. 26
Rapper Kodak Black shot while leaving Justin Bieber’s afterparty
American rapper, Kodak Black, was among three people shot early Saturday February 12, as he was leaving a party held for Justin Bieber in West Hollywood, California.
The 24-year-old Florida rapper and three others were shot; two were taken by ambulance and two self-transported to a hospital, the Los Angeles Police Department said. All are in stable condition.
According to reports by TMZ, Kodak – real name Bill Kapri – was outside the restaurant with fellow rappers Gunna and Lil Baby in the early hours of Saturday (12 February) morning.
A fight broke out within the group, with Black reportedly attempting to punch someone when gunshots were heard by witnesses. He was shot in the leg.
“The fight was believed to have started with someone in Kodak Black’s entourage,” a source told Page Six. “After others jumped in, shots were fired… and then all hell broke loose.”
It was not immediately clear what sparked the fight outside the club in the 400 block of N. La Cienega Boulevard. But an LAPD spokesman said the victims were shot when they emerged from the club during the fight.
In a video shared online, several people were seen fighting with Black during the scuffle. After a few moments, multiple gunshots were heard.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
Police said that 10 shots were fired during the altercations, with four men injured, including Black.
One is said to have been shot in the shoulder, one the leg, and one the buttocks, a source said, while photos showed a man covered in blood.
Two of the men (a 19 and 60-year-old) were taken straight to the hospital from the scene. A 24-year-old (believed to be Black) and another man took themselves to the hospital later.
Two of the men are yet to be named by local authorities, but they are all said to be in stable condition.
US Pastor fatally stabbed 15 times by her son
A pastor from Brooklyn, New York, US is dead leaving her church community in shock after her son allegedly stabbed her 15 times.
Tracey Sydnor was the Head pastor at the Upper Room Baptist Church on Rockaway Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
Sydnor, 61, was killed on Saturday, January 29, when her son, identified as Kenji Francis, allegedly repeatedly stabbed her in her Brooklyn home on Wyona St. near Livonia Ave. in New York in the afternoon.
“She was the glue that kept everything together,” Terrence Reed, a friend of Sydnor, told the Daily News. “Not one bad thing can be said about her.”
She was stabbed at least 15 times, including in her neck, ear and hands, police said. An Ambulance rushed Sydnor to Brookdale University Hospital, but she could not be saved.
Her 40 year old son, Francis, was taken into custody at their home. Charges against him were pending Sunday.
Francis has no prior arrests or history of mental illness.
“It seems like he just snapped,” a police source said.
A knife believed to be the murder weapon was recovered from a bedroom in the home, sources said.
Sydnor grew up attending the church before leading its choir. She was appointed as the head pastor of the congregation in November 2021.
“She was full of life and full of love; she loved singing and dancing,” Reed said. “She was a sweet lady.”
“We talked life stuff, church stuff, just everyday conversation,” Reed said. “She was an encourager, very supportive person.”
In a sermon Sunday, January 30, at the Upper Room Baptist Church, Bishop J. Carl Henderson announced the loss of Sydnor to the congregation.
“God bless you and please my sister, please my brother continue to pray for the family, her children, her siblings and her extended family and our church family as a whole. Our church is suffering a loss.” Henderson said
