Emir of Kano, Dr. Muhammad Sanusi on Tuesday paid a visit to the residents of Rimin Zakara neighborhood in Ungoggo Local Government whose houses were demolished by the Kano State government.
Four people were killed during the demolition exercise on Sunday night. Officials from the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning carried out the exercise
Those killed were allegedly shot dead by security operatives attached to the demolition team.
The land in question reportedly belongs to Bayero University, Kano (BUK).
To douse tension in the area, Emir Sanusi visited the affected area with a plea to the victims to maintain peace while the issue is investigated.
Addressing the community, the Emir expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the clashes and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.
“We must pray for the souls of the deceased and for strength for their families to bear this loss. May this be the last of such tragic incidents in our community,” he said.
