The candidate of the Labour Party in Imo State, Olumide Akpata, has debunked claims that he has stepped down for Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
A letter that circulated on social media on Thursday night claimed that Akpata had opted out of the race and backed Ighodalo .
In the letter, Akpata said he stepped down for the PDP candidate in the election after wide consultation
Akpata has however described the letter as fake.
In a chat with journalists on Friday, Akpata said he was still very much in the race and is poised to win the election.
Akpata said “This falsehood is illustrative of the evil machinations of those who have held our State captive for a quarter of a century and demonstrates the shallowness that has characterised their governance style
