Ebony State House of Assembly on Thursday suspended the Minority Leader of the house Maria Ude Nnwachi, for two weeks
Nnwachi, was suspended over alleged misconduct.
Nnwachi represents Afikpo North-East constituency in the Assembly,
Nwachi, who was elected under the platform of the Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA, was alleged to have incited the youths of her constituency to protest against Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, for failing to provide electricity to the area for eight months.
Members said the suspension was necessary because the House would not allow unruly behaviour, act of insubordination and violence from any member of the House.
Major roads leading in and out of Afikpo area of the state were blocked on Monday by hundreds of youths who were protesting the non-supply of electricity to the area and exorbitant billing by Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), in the area.
