An Abuja High Court has sacked the President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ikenga Ugochinyere, along with 22 other officers barely one month they were elected into office in Abuja.

The court voided the congress and the election that produced them on August 6 and barred them from parading themselves as officers of the youth body.

Delivering judgment in a suit instituted by the Incorporated Trustees of the Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN) to challenge the NYCN congress that brought the officers to office, Justice Valentine Ashi, ordered them removed from office on the ground that the constitution of the NYCN was grossly violated by the defendants in the court action that challenged the election.

Justice Ashi held that their election of August 6 cannot stand in the face of the law in view of the brazen breach of the NYCN constitution on election matters.
