Court grants former Taraba Governor Ishaku’s request to travel abroad for medical treatment

Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the High Court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Wednesday approved the request of Darius Ishaku, the former governor of Taraba, to travel to Arjam, United Arab Emirates (UAE), for his regular medical check-up.

The judge approved the request following a motion submitted by his attorney, Paul Ogbole SAN. 

Ishaku is currently facing prosecution initiated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on behalf of the Federal Government.

He is being charged alongside Bello Yero, a former permanent secretary in the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs of the state.

The defendants faced 15 charges related to criminal breach of trust, conspiracy, and the misappropriation of public funds amounting to N27 billion.
