According to the presidential spokesperson the appointment of Kuru and the three new AMCON executive directors is with effect from August 18, 2015.

Until his appointment as managing director of AMCON, Kuru was the Group Managing Director of Enterprise Bank Limited.

The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) was established on July 19, 2010, when former President Goodluck Jonathan signed the AMCON Act into Law.

The body was created to resolve non-performing loan assets of banks in Nigeria and for related matters.
