Borno lifts restriction on vehicular movement

The Borno State Government on Sunday lifted the three-day curfew and restriction of vehicles in the state, which were meant to stem any breach of security during the Eid-el-Fitri celebration.
Vehicular restriction was put in place in the state between Friday and Sunday morning.
The announcement to relax the restriction of vehicles was made by the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Zannah Mustapha, on Sunday on the state radio.
He said the people should not be compelled to be locked up in their homes and communities for a longer time.
Mustapha however noted that the three-day curfew and vehicle restrictions were to protect people’s lives and property during the Sallah celebration.
This, he said, had informed him to direct the military and other security agencies on the Maiduguri roads and streets to reopen them for motorists and residents as from Sunday morning.
Mustapha also directed the re-opening of all closed markets, motor parks, hospitals and schools in the metropolis.
He said, “With the lifting of this curfew and vehicle restriction, residents can, as from today(Sunday) move and carry out their daily social and economic activities from 6am to 9.30pm daily.”
