Security sources said four soldiers and a policeman were killed by the gunmen.

The discovery of the floating corpse, Daily Trust gathered, brought the number of slain soldiers to five.

The corpse was found early yesterday by boat operators who alerted community leaders and the JTF.  The state government has condoled with the army and families of the dead.

A statement from the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seriake Dickson, Mr. Daniel Markson-Iworiso, expressed regret over the incident and assured that the administration would work with security agencies to get the perpetrators. The governor assured the families of the slain officers that they did not die in vain.
