Some chieftains of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State have dissociated themselves from the suit instituted by a faction of the party in the state against the National Chairman of the party, John Oyegun,
A faction of the party in the state had dragged Oyegun to court over alleged violation of their rights.
Members of the faction were expelled from the party over allegded anti- party activities.
But in a swift reaction to the suit, some of those listed as plaintiffs in the suit denied involvement in the legal action.
The members, who belong to the Legacy group declared their loyalty to the leadership of the party at the state and national levels.
They denied being part of the plot to destabilise the APC in Bayelsa through a court action.
The Legacy group, in a statement signed by Chief Livinus Opuakpa (ANPP), Christopher Abarowei (CPC), Koripuamo Enock and Alfred Akamu, denied being part of the plot to destabilise the APC in Bayelsa through a court action.
A statement by the group read, “We dissociate ourselves from any litigation and we remain resolute and committed to the success of our party in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
“We cannot afford to bring down the whole house (APC) we built because of a leaking roof.
“We wish to draw the attention of the state and national leaderships of our party led by Chief Tiwei Orunimighe and Chief John Odigie-Oyegun respectively, that we are not part of any plan to destabilise the party.
“We wish to express our appreciation to the members of the party’s strategic and planning committee who intervened in the matter when we were sanctioned. We look forward to the total resolution of the issues that led to the crisis.”.
Members of the Legacy group belong to defunct Congress for Progressive Change, the All Nigeria Peoples Party and the Action Congress in APC.
