Bauchi pilgrims to get 300 Rayal each


Gov. Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi State has said that intending pilgrims from the state will get 300 Saudi Rayal each.

Abubakar announced this when he addressed 2015 intending pilgrims during a farewell massage in Bauchi on Wednesday.

He said that each of the 2,842 pilgrims from the state would be given 300 Saudi Rayal each while in the Holy Land.

The governor said that the pilgrims would in addition be given blankets and fed throughout their stay in the Holy Land.

He said the state government would construct a permanent hajj camp at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport, Bauchi, to ease some of the problems being face by pilgrims during hajj operations.

Abubakar also said that the state government would also construct a permanent office accommodation for the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board to enable it relocate from a rented building.
He also announced that the state government has recovered one billion naira in excess from accommodation, office edifice and other expenses following renegotiations with Saudi agents.

The governor warned pilgrims against carrying prohibited drugs and other items as Saudi Arabian authorities would not condone such act.

He urged the pilgrims to pray for the peaceful co-existence of the people of the state and the nation at large.

Alhaji Aliyu Suleiman, Executive Secretary, State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, had earlier complained against lack of permanent hajj camp and office accommodation.

Suleiman said that the board had secured accommodation closed to Ka’aba and other facilities for the welfare of the pilgrims.

He said that pilgrims from the state would be transported to the Holy Land by Top Brass and Max Airlines.

The executive secretary said that the Saudi authorities had directed the board to commenced preparation for 2016 hajj to ease problems associated with hajj operations.

He commended the state government over financial assistance rendered to the board, and urged it to release fund to enable it commence preparation for 2016 operations.

Alhaji Rulwanu Adamu, Emir of Bauchi, who is also the State 2015 Amirul Hajj, commended the state government over its concern on the welfare of the pilgrims.
