Auto crash claims four lives in Ogun

Four persons, including a commercial motorcycle rider have been killed with others injured in a multiple accident involving five vehicles at the Sagamu area of the Sagamu-Benin Expressway.

The accident was said to have occurred around 8pm on Monday at the sloppy and sharp bend near the junction to Sagamu town.

It involved a motorcyclist, a truck carrying diesel, another truck carrying a consignment of cement, a commercial bus and lorry carrying flour.

It was gathered that the accident occurred when the truck carrying diesel fell on the lane of the vehicles travelling towards Lagos and spilled its content on the road.

Vehicles travelling in the opposite lane towards Ore and Benin ran into the lane spilled with oil and skidded off the highway.

While some of the vehicles crashed into the concrete median and somersaulted, others plunged into a nearby valley.

Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Police and the state’s Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) were seen at the scene of the accident controlling traffic and trying to prevent another accident.

Remains of two of the dead victims were said to have been deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu.
