APC, PDP youths clash over sack of council Chairmen in Plateau

The sacking of Council chairmen in Plateau State on Wednesday sparked off a row between supporters of the governing party, the All Progressives Congress, and the Peoples Democratic Party.

A group of PDP Plateau State Youth Wing had on Wednesday afternoon besieged the state House of Assembly complex protesting  against what was viewed as the unceremonial termination of the tenure of Local Government chairmen by the government of Governor Simong Lalong.

But the peaceful protest turned bitter when supporters of the APC from Jos North Local Government Area emerged and started challenging the PDP loyalists for embarking on an act capable of ridiculing the government they fought to bring on board.

The spokesman of the protesters, James Nyam, said the peaceful protest was to call on the Lalong-led administration to reconsider the plight of the sacked chairmen and allow them complete their three-year tenure.

The protesters, who were in their numbers, stormed the Plateau State House of Assembly complex expressing dissatisfaction with the decision of the Governor and appealed for understanding by the government.
