APC groups merge, plan Ekiti take-over

With about three years to the conduct of the governorship election in Ekiti State, two major groups within the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have commenced the merging of interests toward wrestling power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

The groups are the G-35 and the Ekiti Restoration Group (ERG). The G-35 comprises some former local government chairmen and former members of the House of Assembly, while the ERG was formed by some former members of the House of Representatives. Speaking with journalists in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, a chieftain of the ERG, Hon. Bamidele Faparusi, said the merger became expedient as part of the efforts to foster unity and ensure proper realignment of forces ahead of the 2018 election.
