Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou purse: How much fighters will make in Saudi showdown | Boxing | Sport

Anthony Joshua is set to clash with former UFC champion Francis Ngannou in a 10-round heavyweight main event fight in Saudi Arabia on Friday night. The former world champion Brit is set to receive an eye-watering fee for his participation in the crossover bout, while Ngannou will also be compensated handsomely, too.

In the latest blockbuster event staged in Riyadh, Joshua is set to fight Ngannou who came agonisingly close to defeating Tyson Fury just four months ago. In his professional boxing debut, Ngannou knocked WBC heavyweight champion Fury to the canvas before controversially losing via split decision in their epic 10-round battle.

Fury was expected to dominate the former MMA star, but the big-punching Ngannou left the Gypsy King cut, bloodied and humbled. While he lost, the 37-year-old’s performance was celebrated; the WBC even recently installed Ngannou in their top 10 of title contenders.

The two-time former unified world champion has rekindled his best form after back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk threatened to derail his career. He defeated both Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius in unspectacular fights before the 34-year-old dominated Otto Wallin in Saudi Arabia in December 2023.

This will be Joshua’s fourth fight in Saudi Arabia before. He earned a career-high payday of £66million in Diriyah when he reclaimed his WBA (Super), WBO, IBO, and IBF world titles from Andy Ruiz Jr back in December 2019 before losing his belts to Usyk in Jeddah. He also clashed with Wallin in Riyadh.

With pressure and expectation to secure the win, Joshua will still be looking for another decisive display against Ngannou. The 2012 Olympic gold medalist will be desperate to win and secure a meeting with the winner of the rescheduled undisputed fight between champions Fury and Usyk.

Fury and Usyk are set to fight in May. Joshua is hoping to maintain his form and prove his worth as he attempts to re-enter the world title picture.

Joshua vs Ngannou purse

According to Sport Business Journal, Joshua will take home a staggering £31 million when he faces the MMA phenom in the boxing ring on Friday night. Meanwhile, Ngannou will receive approximately £16 million.

Joshua will fight Ngannou on Friday 8th March in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
