Abuja PDP Coordinator defectss To APC

The coordinator of Abuja natives in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Danjuma Bussa, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Bussa was also a community relations consultant to the immediate past Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Sen. Bala Mohammed on Land Swap Policy.

Bussa said lack of internal democracy in the selection of candidates at all ties of government made him to dump the PDP.

He noted that it will be difficult for the PDP to regain its stronghold in the territory.

“I have been an APC supporter even before the elections. I am a progressive man by nature and birds of the same feathers flock together. The problem of PDP in the FCT is that the party lacks internal democracy.

“Just look at the way the candidates that contested the National Assembly elections emerged. They practically imposed them on us. No consultation was done because they have a godfather somewhere. Immediately after the party’s primary, my body and soul was for the APC,” he affirmed.

While fielding questions from journalists whether he will not be seen as a betrayal, Bussa said: “I should not be seen as a betrayal because many people also moved shortly after the elections. Those who are dissatisfied with the way things are done in the PDP left. The difference is that some left earlier than most of us.”
He, however, called on the incoming FCT minister to carry Abuja natives along in policies that affect the original inhabitants, even as he pledged to continue to mobilise support for the incoming minister.

According to him, “we will work with him or her to ensure that natives are carried along. We should be involved in the policy of the administration. In fact, we should be given right of first refusal because if the policies are wrong, we the natives will suffer it most.”

Bussa also called on the incoming FCT minister to review some of the policies of the immediate past administration with a view to accommodating the opinions of the original inhabitants.

The coordinator commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment in the fight against corruption in the country, noting that corruption is the bane of development.
“The president has done so well within the short time in office. The fight against corruption is total because it is the bane of development in Nigeria,” he noted.

He, therefore, thanked some APC members who stood their ground before and after the elections saying, “I have to salute the resilience of Sen. Sidi Ali, Hon. Zakari Agulu, representating Abuja south at the National Assembly; Alhaji Tanko Abari, the APC state chairman and members of his executives for putting up a good fight to defeat the PDP.”

He revealed that the official ceremony of his movement from PDP to APC will be performed after the swearing in of a new FCT minister.
