Ghanaian minister of transports Mrs Dzifa Attivor and that of power Dr Kwabena Donkor have resigned from President John Mahama’s cabinet.
On December 26, Attivor bowed out of office after public outrage over inflated cost of rebranding government owned buses.
The latest casualty in the gale of resignation by political office holders is the power minister Donkor, whose 11-month stint was dogged with the worst power crisis in the history of the country.
The ministers’ resignation within a week may have raised the bar of accountability for political office holders in the country.
Mahama while reading his New Year message warned that under performing public officers would be shown the exit this year.
In 2015, Mahama carved out the power ministry from energy’s and put Donkor at the helm of its affairs.
Instead of the power challenges easing, rather it deteriorated, prompting his critics to call for his removal from office.
The transport minister, early last week due to public disapproval and criticism of government for rebranding 116 buses of the state owned Metro Mass Transport for GHC3.6 million resigned from office.
