Chaos broke out at the close of court on Monday, January 25, when officers of the NPS began harassing Kanu, pushing him from his left, right and back.

Kanu, his family and the press raised alarm, asking what he did to warrant the treatment.

Rather than answer, the NPS officers tried to bar press from taking pictures of the Radio Biafra Director, and spirited him away into the nearest elevator.

One of his lawyers said they take exception to the treatment of their client, stressing that he is presumed innocent until proven otherwise by the court.

He said the entire court was “miffed by the treatment” and promised that appropriate action would be taken.

Prior to this, it was learnt that Kanu was initially brought in chains to the front entrance, but after he protested, the chains were removed and he was sneaked into court via Judges’ entrance, away from the eyes of journalists.
