No fewer than 167 persons alleged to be impersonators during the Post University Matriculation Examination of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, yesterday were apprehended by the institution’s authority.
It was gathered that the arrested persons have been handed over to security operatives for further investigation.
Director of Information of the institution, Dr. Emma Ojukwu, said the affected persons would soon be charged to court.
He said that following the stringent measures adopted by the University during the examination, many candidates did not turn up for the screening for fear of being detected, hence out of the total number of 30,477 prospective candidates, only 28,233 turned up.
He said, “The University’s newly acquired biometric data capturing machines were fully deployed whereby candidates’ finger prints were matched with what we already have on our data base.
