The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Sokoto, Sokoto State yesterday dismissed a petition filed before it against the election of the incumbent member of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Abdussamad Dasuki (APC-Sokoto).
Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Anselem Nwaige, said the petition brought before it by Abubakar was dismissed for lack of merit. It will be recalled that the petition was filed before the tribunal on April 17, 2015 by the defeated candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 28, 2015 National Assembly Elections, Alhaji Aminu Abubakar.
Also, INEC had declared Dasuki, the son of Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki, as the duly elected member of the House of Representatives for the Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal constituency after he garnered 70, 653 votes.
Abubakar, the son of Nigeria’s former Finance Minister and former High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, polled 13, 350 votes in the poll.
