The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 156 senior police officers.
The commission promoted one commissioner of police (CP) to assistant inspector general (AIG), 10 deputy commissioners of police (DCP) to CPs, 19 assistant commissioners of police (ACP) to DCPs , and 20 chief superintendents of police (CSP) to assistant commissioners of police (ACP).
Details of the promotion was contained in a statement in Abuja yesterday by its Head of Press, Public Relations Unit, Ikechukwu Ani.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police in Kano State; Musa Katsina Mohammed was promoted to assistant inspector general (AIG), while 10 deputy commissioners (DCP) were elevated to commissioners.
The new CPs are “Ero Oga, Yunana Y. Babas, Dan-Malam Mohammed, Mu’azu Zubairu Halilu, Rabiu Yusuf, Sanusi Nma Lemu, Ahmed Iliyasu, Isyaku Muktar Garko, Mohammed Uba Kura and Alhassan Mamuda.
The statement added: “Twenty chief superintendents (CSP) were also promoted to assistant commissioner (ACP) with one superintendent (SP) moved to chief superintendent (CSP).
“One hundred assistant superintendents (ASP) were also promoted to deputy superintendent (DSP), including Atiku Ibrahim of the Enugu State Command.
“The commission also elevated four inspectors to assistant superintendent (ASP)”.
The commission noted that it approved the upgrading of 11 Rank and File Police Officers who were trained as pilots to deputy superintendents (DSP) in line with their pilot licence and certificate.
The commission stated that the promotion takes effect from March 18, except that of the AIG Musa Katsina Mohammed with effect from today.
