Police smash Rivers robbery, kidnap gangs

Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has issued a stern warning to criminals in restive Rivers State following the arrest of nine suspects for alleged involvement in various crimes.

The suspects aged between 23 and 34, all male, were arrested for alleged kidnappings and armed robbery. Some arms and a vehicle were recovered.

Police launched a massive onslaught on the alleged kidnappers of some residents of GRA Phase II, Port Harcourt main town, Borikiri general area and YKC axis of Woji in Rivers.

“This feat yielded prompt outcome as the hoodlums were arrested as a result of due diligence and intelligence exhibited by members of the Police Force complimented by public spirited citizens eager to curb crimes in the society,” said Don Awunah, Force Public Relations Officer.

“IGP Idris has assured the Nigeria Police Force is ever ready and more determined to make sure that all those who engage in vicious crime and other criminal activities do not escape justice,” added Awunah.

Meanwhile, the Intelligence Response Team has arrested five alleged members of the so-called Isheri Landlord kidnap gang of Lagos State.
