The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum met Wednesday, apparently to push for Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose as deputy of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF).
The meeting is coming few hours before the NGF meeting where issues including the election of the Forum’s deputy will be discussed.
Some governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were reported to have kicked against the choice of Fayose as NGF deputy chairman.
The NGF usually chose its chairman from the ruling party and deputy from the opposition.
The Forum had chosen Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Yari as chairman.
The PDP governors’ forum meeting was to take a position on Fayose’s candidacy.
Incidentally, Fayose was absent at the meeting. He was said to have travelled out of the country.
Nine PDP governors from Delta, Kogi, Bayelsa, Taraba, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Gombe, Ondo and Ekiti (deputy) were present at the meeting.
