A suicide bomber, on Wednesday, March 16, detonated explosives at a mosque in Umurari area of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
According to reports, up to 25 Muslim worshippers were killed and 17 injuried during the attack.
An emergency services worker said that a bomb exploded early in the morning shortly after people started praying.
The attack was a twin suicide bombing: “A female suicide bomber disguised as a man detonated one inside the mosque while another waited outside. When people came for rescue, the other one detonated her own outdoor, killing more people.”
The attack is believed to have been carried out by members of the Islamist group Boko Haram, though the group is yet to claim responsibility.
