Muslim shopkeeper stabbed to death by fellow Muslim for wishing Christians Happy Easter

The Police in the Scottish city of Glasgow have confirmed the arrest of a 32-year-old Muslim man in connection with the murder of a 40-year-old shopkeeper, Asad Shah, four hours after he wished Christians a ‘Happy Easter’ on social media, MailOnline reports.

Shah, who is originally from Pakistan, was a devout Muslim man loved in his neighbourhood for his tolerance of other religions and openness towards his neighbours.

The police also said everyone currently being investigated in connection with the murder were Muslims.

Shah had gone on Facebook on Thursday evening to write: “Good Friday and a very Happy Easter, especially to my beloved Christian nation.”

And he added: “Let’s follow the real footstep of beloved holy Jesus Christ and get the real success in both worlds.”

Also, he was due to meet some Christian friends on Friday evening to discuss the importance of Easter before he was murdered just outside his newsagents shop.

He had in his previous posts on social media advocated for religious tolerance and spoken against hatred and violence.

He was killed with a knife around 9pm local time, four hours after he posted the Easter message on Facebook.
