A 41-year-old man, Sunday Ngwu, has allegedly beaten his wife to death over an undisclosed marital issue at Ibollo in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The suspect, a native of Nkanu Local Government Area of Enugu State, reportedly engaged his wife in a fight on Monday night.
The Nation gathered that the suspect and his late wife, Amara, had been living peacefully in an apartment on Ikwo Street before the incident happened.
A neighbour, who pleaded for anonymity, said a fight broke out between them after a heated argument, during which the suspect thoroughly beat her up.
She said: “Even though he had the upper hand in the fight, he still proceeded to use a heavy metal to smash her head, leaving her in that unconsciousness state.”
The neighbour, who feigned ignorance of the cause of the fracas, revealed that the man had been arrested.
Police spokesperson Haruna Mohammed, a Superintendent of Police (SP), said the matter had been transferred to Awka, the state capital, while the woman’s body had been deposited in a morgue.
He said: “On June 10 at 8 p.m, detectives attached to Awada Division arrested Sunday Ngwu (M), 41, from Nkanu Local Government Area of Enugu State but resides on Ikwo Street, Ibollo in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
“The suspect allegedly beat his wife, Amara Ngwu (F), 39, of the same address to pulp and then used a heavy metal to hit her on the head, leaving her unconscious.
“Detectives attached to Awada Division visited the scene of the crime and he victim was taken to Bex Hospital where she was confirmed dead by a doctor. The body was deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
“Police Commissioner Mustapha Dandaura has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka to conduct a discreet investigation in order to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident. Then the suspect would be charged to court for prosecution.”
