The Nigeria Customs Service has warned Nigerians to be wary of the kind of rice they consume in the yuletide season.
According to Customs Comptroller, Federal Operations Unit (F.O.U.) Ikeja, Mamudu Haruna, most rice smuggled through Idiroko, Seme, Jibia and other border stations had expired.
He said the public should be very careful in patronising the smuggled commodity as eating such smuggled rice would damage one’s systems.
He added that customs is doing all in its efforts to curb the smuggling of rice into Nigeria through land borders.
