Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday interrogated the Chairman of the Enugu State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Ikeje Asogwa, over alleged diversion of public funds during his tenure as the Managing Director of Enugu State Housing Corporation.
The Enugu State PDP chairman’s interrogation at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja came on a day after the anti-graft agency grilled Chief Ifeoma Nwobodo, the erstwhile Chief of Staff to former Governor Sullivan Chime.
Asogwa was said to have arrived the headquarters of the commission about 10.30am yesterday and was immediately ushered into the room, where he was being interrogated by a crack team of detectives.
It was gathered from highly placed sources at the EFCC that Asogwa’s invitation came on the heels of the discovery that Enugu State funds meant for housing development were allegedly diverted. The source said investigations revealed that there was nothing to indicate that the huge funds were applied to any housing development.
