The Presidency has insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari would begin investigation into the allegations levelled against the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal.
This was stated by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina.
In an interview with the PUNCH, Adesina said that Buhari would listen to both sides, as he is a fair-minded person.
He said: “The SGF has defended himself. The President is very fair minded. He will look at both sides of the matter.”
The Senate on Wednesday, called on Lawal to resign, following a report by an ad-hoc committee on the “mounting humanitarian crisis in the North East”.
The report indicted Lawal for receiving a N233million contract to clear “invasive grass”, an action which is in breach of Nigeria’s code of conduct for public officials as enshrined in the 1999 constitution.
