Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, has described as “touching” his last moment with the Ooni, Oba Sijuade.
Aregbesola, who disclosed this at the parliamentary session held to mark the 50th birthday of the Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Najeem Salam, in Osogbo, said his last communication with the monarch was through an SMS Oba Sijuade sent to him.
Though Aregbesola maintained that in Yorubaland monarchs do not die, he however assured that the content of the text message will be shared with the people of the state at the appropriate time.
He described the Speaker, Hon. Salaam, as dedicated and deserving of all the prayers and encomiums being showered on, saying Osun at its stage needs quality leaders in position of leadership to reach its peak.
“The effective leadership we have provided in this state with the massive delivery of people-oriented programmes could not have been without the appropriate cooperation of the House under the Speaker.
“It is therefore pertinent to note that the Speaker has been a major factor in the delivery of good governance and this we are optimistic will continue,” Aregbesola said.
While commending Salam for given the House efficient leadership by passing quality laws, he also charged the lawmakers to continue to work towards ensuring harmonious relationship with other arms of government.
