Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio has appealed to Nigerians to be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari and give him the needed support despite the prevalent economic hardship in the country.
The Former Governor of Akwa Ibom said the present economic hardship currently faced by the country has nothing to do with the political party in power but the world’s dwindling oil prices.
Akpabio said the support to President Buhari by Nigerians has became necessary in view of the fact that the country belonged to everyone.
“If the country collapses on our heads, it means that we bequeath nothing to our children.
“So what has happened here is that with the massive failure, what we call oil glut in the market, the oil price has reduced below what we expected in the last 20 years, that automatically has affected our economy; so it has nothing to do with which administration is in power, it has something to do with resources to be able to deliver the dividend of democracy, “Akpabio added.
While calling for the diversification of the economy, he said the economic crunch was felt more in Nigeria because of the dependence on oil.
